I brought this up a long time ago on ternary.info, and I got mixed answers so I'm going to ask again. The reason I want to bring this up is because I feel a clear cut black and white comparison of binary vs ternary is needed to gain interest on the area of ternary.
So what bench marks can be done now to show the clear difference (good or bad) between ternary and binary based machines? Is there any test or project that can be done to show an area where a ternary machine may be superior to a binary equivalent. This does not have to be something as extravagant as a calculation, but something like doing a light show or completing an order of operations of any kind faster than binary.
If such bench tests have been done, and there has been project's in it. Are there white papers? Do we have a consolidated index of all the tests done and what the results were? Are there any more tests that can be done to further prove that ternary is a worthwhile area of research?
